when people were planning this trip i basically knew nothing about it. didn't know where it was. didn't know how BEAUTIFUL it was going to be. nothing. well let me tell you a. it's in the czech republic. which is different than czechoslovakia. how are they different you ask? well czechoslovakia doesn't exist anymore. it split and half of it is now the czech republic. a little history for you. b. you must visit this city. not for a long time, it's a pretty small, we were sastisfied with our quick 3 day weekend trip. but if you're going to be in europe this is a good one to visit.
because we were looking to purchase the cheapest train tickets possible (naturally) we got the unreserved ones. well, we realized quickly that that was an adventure when there were 0 seats to be found on the entire train and we had 5 hours to go. for a good 40 minutes we were standing in the cramped teeny hallways while people were trying to find their reserved room, there was alot of shuffling around and shouting in german, we just simply didn't have anywhere to go! after everyone who did have their reserved spots found the right spot however it quieted down and we found a decent spot to sit down on the ground. (in german culture that is pretty much a no no to sit on the ground...but we had to do what we had to do!)
after the dresden stop, about 3 hours out of berlin, most of the people in the reserved seats got off the train so we were able to get some seats! a wonderful thing. we had our own little corridor for 6 of us, harry potter style! that was fun, we had a GREAT group with us in prague.
soon enough we arrived in PRAGUE.
it took us a second to figure out which way to go to get to our hostel but we figured it out thanks to david the navigator. and his iphone.
hah we thought at first that "POZOR" meant pedestrian in czech...nope. we figured out later it means something like "beware," or "caution." that was one funny thing with this trip, normally in germany we have some idea of what to say, we are learning german after all. and if i'm confused as to what to say there are a few of our friends who served missions in germany so they know what's going on. here, they spoke czech! a whole new arena. kind of a fun adventure. and besides that, most people spoke english being that it is a veryy touristy city.

nope, false alarm.
that's in korunas, and one czech koruna is about 0.0478 US dollars. what i'm saying is that this place was actually pretty cheap. tricked ya! that was actually kind of hard this whole trip, we had to do math every time we spent money. and even still it was hard to have a concept of how much money you were spending when you were throwing down 100 bills.
well that was just the first day. and i'm just worn out. while in prague half of us got some cough out your lung sickness and it's really getting annoying. so i'll leave you with this and you'll want to czech back soon because all of the pretty stuff was the next day when the SUN was out!!
