as of late.

here is an average day in the life of kaitlin and joslin

wake up: 6:20 jos, 6:50 kait
7:45am: leave for train station, sometimes running
7:51am: catch train
8:30am: goethe institute class
10:00am: much awaited for BREAK when we eat a snack, get a breather from german speaking, half of the school goes out for a smoke break, and all of us byu students chat and talk about what we've been up to even though we spend practically every waking moment together
10:30am: back to class
1:00pm: school's outt. now we're free to
9:00-10:00pm ish: get home! settle in, consider doing some homework, get on the computer, talk to the same people online that we've been hanging out with all day...
10:00-12:00pm ish: sleeeeep

isn't it a great life! the main variation comes obviously in the explore berlin part. so since we are here on a byu study abroad we have another class that we are taking aside from the 8:30-1:00 language class that covers the culture of germany. for that class we are required to see/do about 40 different things in berlin, from visiting to museums, parks, big stores, cemeteries, churches, monuments, etc. basically most of the big things to see in berlin we are required to visit and then write a small report on. so it's pretty nice really because we'd want to see them anyways....this just requires that we do so!

our german classes here end on the 23rd of this month and then as a group we'll be traveling around germany until the 8th of july. we're going to 10 ish cities in germany and traveling around on a bus, so much fun. the driving around in the bus might be almost the funnest part...we are going to be with all of our bfffb's (best friends forever from berlin) the whole time and so i imagine that will make for a good time.

oh, and we're going to milan this weekend...18th-20th :)

now for a few random pictures from lately.

i'm always a fan of candids.

just taking a quick break on the ground.
we do alot of walking in this town i'm telling you.

our whole group went out to dinner together, fun because we don't often go to sit down restaraunts. it was also a traditional german food restaraunt so we got to experience some of that.
just me and tracy showing a little love!
sometimes our pictures don't show how cute we look in real life.

jos and kendra!

hah tracy.
we had walked allll the way one direction on "unter den linden," a street, trying to find a dang sit down ice cream shop and then we remembered one that was completely on the other side of where we had been. so we hopped on a bus and backtracked. but it was worth it.

we eat alot of ice cream that's for sure, but we've never had real life sit down ice cream before. so we splurged and got some yummy ice cream at this place.

verdict: it was delicious for sure, and looked pretty. but i'd say since the price is almost triple what a normal old ice cream cone costs it's not worth it. especially when the normal cones are to die for. but it was worth it to try it once!

this was at a beautiful little jewish cemetarie in berlin. it's the oldest jewish cemetary, they estimate that over 10,000 people were buried there! there was a headstone for Moses Mendelssohn, father of the famous composer Felix Mendelssohn was here, that was neat. it was really a sweet place, just right smack dab in the middle of the city!

perhaps not the BEST photo of us you've ever seen, but you need a good s-bahn picture every now and again. and, i like her.

i will never get enough of this building.
just the berliner dom again.
incredible.

this is the neue synagoge, another beautiful building i just wanted to share.

haha oh my gosh.
okay so dr. kelling sends us approximately 37 emails a day and one of them a few weeks ago was as follows:
"I got a 'bargain' on sale, I think.  I bought two jackets on a going-out of business sale for 20 Euro each.  They are black and brown out of some kind of leather looking (it is NOT leather) material.  They are actually too small for me.  If any of you would like one I will let you have it for 10 Euro.  Let me know if you are interested.  I don’t want to have to carry them home."

he is just a funny guy, every email we get from him is hilarious.
well he brought those (NOT)leather jackets that he wanted to sell to the class and jos took a quick photo.
also, you'll be happy to hear that atleast one of the jackets sold! a student purchased the tan one for her fiance. so now he just needs to sell the black one...

ps. we only have 7 days of school left.
what?!
